Bollywood is a dance style that caught my eye first when I saw an old friend, Kimberly Wyatt, show off in the Pussy Cat Dolls video “Jai Ho” from Million Dollar Slumdog. Then again I saw it while watching Smash. It looked so fun and exciting that when I saw it being offered on Groupon.com I jumped at the chance to take a couple of classes of Bollywood Fitness!
When the instructor walked in and was a tiny framed, 4’6” I figured I was in trouble. You see, by the time she’s on her third move my orangutan arms and giraffe legs were just finishing the first move. I tried to stay positive and keep trying to follow along, but by the end of the class my bad knee and ankles were so sore it was almost unbearable.
Well, it was only the first class. Maybe the second would be better…..unfortunately no such luck. Even though this class was bad for my knee and my ankles, it’s definitely a cardio workout! So I suggest you giving it a go. Even though I tried with my old and injured body to no success, I strongly encourage you to give it a try! You may not be able to fully get into it on your first go. At least sign up for the two classes and give it a second try before you decide if it’s for you or not. Although there will be no Bollywood Fitness in my future, I love that I can say I gave it a go. TWICE!
